Roger M. Hamman, 87, of Bettendorf, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 at Mercy One Genesis, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 3, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon at Cass Center Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Quad Cities Community Foundation. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Roger was born Oct. 28, 1937 in rural Webster City, Iowa, the son of Jonathan and Pearl (Shafer) Hamman. Following his graduation from Webster City High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. On June 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Charlene Crim in Boone. Roger worked for Northwestern Bell for 33 years before retiring in 1995. He then worked for Enterprise Car Rental for 24 years until eventually retiring in 2020.
Roger was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa State Cyclones fan. He enjoyed traveling on bus trips with his wife and attending family reunions. He appreciated being outdoors, whether hiking, fishing, canoeing, or being out on the river with his family. Spending time with his grandchildren was very important to Roger, especially celebrating their birthdays with them. Roger was a devoted husband, dad, and papa.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Charlene Hamman of Bettendorf; children, Beverly (Jeremy) Foley of Grimes, and John (Kira) Hamman of Smithsburg, Maryland; two grandchildren, Lucia and Benjamin Hamman; siblings: Sharon (Richard) Wheeler of Webster City and Lyle Hamman of Mt. Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Waters and Ruby Hamman.
